CCR20200xx-Public Comment Info INFORMATION FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AT COMMON COUNCIL MEETINGS The City of Muskego protocol for public comment, public hearings and public information meetings is one of respect for the process and for others. While healthy discussion is encouraged, applauding, cheering or negative outbursts stifle the democratic process. We request that all participants be treated with respect so that all are given a fair and equal opportunity to address the Council. We ask that you assist other participants in maintaining a professional decorum. Public Comment on Council agenda matters is for City residents or taxpayers only. In order to insure that everyone will have an equal opportunity to speak, the following rules will apply: 1. Please make your comments as concise as possible. In the case of “Public Comment,” each speaker shall be limited to a maximum of three minutes per person per agenda item. The above noted times do not pertain to public hearings or public informational meetings. 2. For public comment at Council meetings, you must first register with the City Clerk in writing using the attached form. For participation in public hearings and public information meetings, please sign in on the “Guest Sign In” sheet. 3. Speakers will be limited to making comments related to all agenda items excluding closed session items relating to employment and labor issues. 4. If your discussion topic is the subject of a public hearing on the agenda, please speak during that portion of the meeting. Public comments are made when the Public Comment item is addressed on the agenda. 5. If a previous speaker addressed your comment, please state that the prior comment reflects your intent and please do not restate the comment. 6. There will be no discussion by/with Alderpersons during Public Comment portion of the agenda. T/CITYHALL/Common Council/Resolutions/2012/CCR2012004-Public Comment Info.doc Rev. 2/14/2012
