RESOLUTION #068-2018
APPROVAL OF REIMBURSEMENT TO JEWELL HOMES
FOR HILLENDALE SANITARY PRESSURE SEWER
WHEREAS, Two parcels on Hillendale Drive are part of a development project by Jewell
Homes; and
WHEREAS, As a result of the project, the City of Muskego required the existing sanitary
pressure sewer to be extended by Jewell Homes to serve both parcels as well as possible
additional parcels; and
WHEREAS, During the review of the project, the City became aware that the existing pressure
sewer was reduced from a 2-inch diameter pipe to a 1 1/4-inch diameter pipe. No past
documents or records exist to substantiate the reasons for the reduction in size. Pursuant to a
sewer study that was done, the existing 1 1/4-inch pipe did not have the capacity to handle the
proposed development and possible future development along Hillendale Drive; and
WHEREAS, The City required Jewell Homes to relay the existing pressure sewer during its
design and construction to account for this issue; and
WHEREAS, The City agreed to reimburse Jewell Homes for the additional costs in order to
allow the proposed parcels to be built; and
WHEREAS, Following construction of the sanitary pressure sewer, the City agreed to reimburse
Jewell Homes a total of $19,680.44 for the engineering, construction and inspection of the
proposed sanitary pressure sewer due to the existing system not having enough capacity; and
WHEREAS, The Finance Committee has reviewed the proposed reimbursement and
recommends approval to the Common Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of Muskego,
upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby approve the reimbursement
to Jewell Homes in the amount of $19,680.44.
