APPROVAL OF AN AMENDED BUILDING, SITE AND OPERATION PLAN FOR A
FIRE ARMS TRAINING RANGE FOR THE CITY OF MUSKEGO AT THE
PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE NE 1/4 OF SECTION 36
WHEREAS, Upon petition of the City of Muskego Police Department an amended Building, Site, and
Operation Plan is sought for certain revisions to the original plan approved by the Plan Commission as
per Resolution #P.C. 115-1997, and
WHEREAS, The Common Council approved of a rezoning for the property located in the NE 1/4 of
Section 36 to A/OIP, Agriculture with an Institutional and Public Service Overlay for a fire arms training
range on March 11, 1997, under Ordinance #922, and
WHEREAS, The Plan Commission approved of a Building, Site and Operation Plan as per Resolution
#P.C. 115-1997 allowing the following:
• The hours of operation are 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to Noon
on Saturday, limited to 65 days of the year, no hours on Sundays or Holidays and evening hours
until 8:00 P.M. from September thru April.
• The agencies authorized to use this site are the city of Muskego Police Department, the Federal
Bureau of Investigation, Milwaukee Office, and the City of Milwaukee Police Department recruit
shotgun training and tactical team only with additional agencies using the facility only upon
recommendation of the City of Muskego Police Department and the Standing Committee of the
Emerald Park Landfill to the Plan Commission of the City of Muskego.
• That the plans submitted (dated received May 23, 1997) depicted fire arms training facility
broken into two sections, divided and surrounded by landscaped berms.
• That the facility operations were approved by the Standing Committee of the Emerald Park
Landfill on April 28, 1997.
WHEREAS, The petitioners wish to amend the current BSO Plan by extending the operations by 10 days
from 65 days a year to 75 days a year and also to allow the authorized agencies to include the U.S
Marshall’s Office, and
WHEREAS, The Standing Committee of the Emerald Park Landfill approved the revisions at their
August 2005 meeting.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves an amended Building, Site and
Operation Plan for the City of Muskego Police Department as described in the Resolution above as
approved by the Standing Committee of the Emerald Park Landfill.
