RESOLUTION #P.C. 045-2005
APPROVAL OF A TEMPORARY OFF-SITE SIGN FOR ATONEMENT LUTHERAN CHURCH
AT THE PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE SE ¼ OF SECTION 3
(BORCHARDT PROPERTY / TAX KEY NO. 2169.987)
WHEREAS, On March 7, 2005 plans for a temporary off-site sign for Atonement Lutheran Church were
submitted by Keith Werner located in the SE ¼ of Section 3, and
WHEREAS, The sign is to designate future construction of Atonement Lutheran Church at the property
known as Tax Key Number 2169.987, and
WHEREAS, The Muskego Zoning Ordinance allows temporary off-site signs designating the future
construction of a development when the sign is 64 square feet or smaller, and
WHEREAS, The proposed sign is to be non-illuminated, 40 square feet in area, blue and white in color,
constructed by a professional carpenter, and will be located just east of the Martin Drive right-of-way on
the property referenced above, and
WHERAS, The current property owner has provided a letter to the Planning Department stating that the
sign can be allowed on the above referenced property, and
WHEREAS, The Muskego Zoning Ordinance allows temporary off-site signs for a period of nine months
with time extensions, and
WHEREAS, The petitioner has requested that the sign be allowed until the completed construction of the
new church in December 2008, and
WHERAS, The Church will have a maintenance committee to monitor the sign until December 2008 and
keep the sign in a pleasing condition.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves the temporary off-site sign for
Atonement Lutheran Church at the property located in the SE ¼ of Section 3 known as Tax Key Number
2169.987.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission will allow the sign until completion of the
church in December 2008 and instructs to the Planning Department to monitor the condition of the sign
during this time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That if the Plan Department determines the sign falls into disrepair that the
sign be brought back to Plan Commission for ruling on removal or repairing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the approval contained in this resolution shall
result in the imposition of fines of $100 per day, the initiation of legal action, or both.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Planning Department will review the maintenance of the
sign on an annual basis until the church is completed.
