APPROVAL OF AN ACCESSORY STRUCTURE (CARPORT) FOR THE CHRISTENSON
PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE NE ¼ OF SECTION 31
(TAX KEY NO. 2281.990.003 / S106 W20565 NORTH SHORE LANE)
WHEREAS, On January 17, 2005 a site plan and building photos were submitted by Thomas
Christenson to construct an accessory structure (miscellaneous screening device / carport) for
the property located at S106 W20565 North Shore Lane, and
WHEREAS, The property is zoned RS-2/OLS, Suburban Residence District with a Lake Shore
Overlay, and where said accessory structure is a permitted accessory use and subject to Plan
Commission review due to the requirements of the General Design Guide regarding
miscellaneous screening devices, and
WHEREAS, The proposed accessory structure (miscellaneous screen device / carport) will be 18’
x 20’ in size, totaling 360 square feet, and
WHEREAS, The total square footage for accessory structures on this property is limited to 3,297
square feet, and said proposal meets the bulk requirements of the Zoning Code, and
WHEREAS, Currently on the parcel is a detached garage (741 square feet), a shed (65 square
feet), and a boat house / screen porch (406 square feet) all totaling 1,212 square feet, and
WHEREAS, The structure is proposed to be constructed of metal materials with a green roof to
match the nearby garage.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves an accessory structure
(miscellaneous screen device / carport), 360 square feet in area, submitted by Thomas
Christenson for a property located at S106 W20565 North Shore Lane.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this is a permanent accessory screening device and must
observe all property line setbacks/offsets.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the terms of this resolution and the
approved site plans shall result in the issuance of fines of $100 per day per violation, the initiation
of legal action, or both.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That carport will not be enclosed.
