PCR2003112RESOLUTION #P.C. 112-2003 APPROVAL OF SIGNS FOR BRITISH PETROLEUM (F/K/A PENNZOIL) FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT S75 W17237 JANESVILLE ROAD / TAX KEY NO. 2196.952 WHEREAS, On August 22, 2003 wall sign plans were submitted by US Bank (f/k/a Pennzoil) for the property located at S75 W17125 Janesville Road / Tax Key No. 2199.997.001, and WHEREAS, The property is zoned B-2, Local Service Center, with a Conditional Use Grant for the service station, car sales, and car wash operations, and wall signs are permitted subject to Section 17:6.09 of the Zoning Code, and WHEREAS, No signs currently exist on the north elevation of the structure, and the petitioner proposes three (3) signs for the north elevation, and the signs are as follows: • “SHOP” Building Sign measuring 5’ x 1.5’ (7.5 SF). • “SERVICE” Building Sign measuring 5’ x 1.5’ (7.5 SF). • “QUICK LUBE” Building Sign measuring 8.75’ x 1.0’ (8.75 SF). WHEREAS, The wall signs will be internally illuminated, and reflect the US Bank corporate colors, and WHEREAS, Per Section 17:6.09(12)(c) of the Municipal Code, one sign per building elevation with street frontage is permitted for each structure on a parcel, and WHEREAS, The proposed signage requires Plan Commission approval prior to the issuance of a building and zoning permit. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves of three (3) wall signs for the British Petroleum (f/k/a Pennzoil) property located in the SE ¼ of Section 9. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, The Plan Commission previously determined that permanent signage is to be for the purpose of identification of the business, rather than for advertising of products or services available. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the sign plans are approved as submitted and a copy of said plans be kept on file in the Building Department and that all aspect of this plan shall be maintained in perpetuity unless otherwise authorized by the Plan Commission. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the approval contained in this resolution shall result in the imposition of fines of $100 per day, the initiation of legal action, or both.
