APPROVAL OF MONUMENT SIGN PLAN FOR THE MUSKEG0 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
LOCATED IN THE NW X OF SECTION 9

WHEREAS, On September 6, 2002 plans to install a monument sign with reader board located at
the Muskego Elementary School at S75 W17476 Janesville Road were submitted by Deborah
Carlson on behalf of the Muskego-Noway School District, and
WHEREAS, The property is zoned B-4/OIP/OED, Highway Business District as modified by the
Institution and Public Service Overlay and Existing Development Overlay, and building and site
signs are permitted subject to Section 17:6.09 of the Zoning Code, and
WHEREAS, The petitioner is proposing a monument sign measuring 4-feet in height and 8-feet in
feet from the Janesville Road right-of-way, and
width, and the sign is illustrated to be located in an existing landscape planter approximately 35-
WHEREAS, A landscape plan has not been submitted as required, and
WHEREAS, A 20-inch by 64-inch reader board proposed within the monument sign for three (3)
lines OF four (4) inch copy, and Section 17:6.09(6)(G)(2) exempts reader boards for schools from
the size restrictions of the Zoning Code, and said reader board will be internally illuminated.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves of a monument sign for
the Muskego Elementary School located at S75 W17476 Janesville Road.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a landscape plan shall be submitted to the Planning
Department for review and approval by the City Forester prior to the release of permits.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the sign plans are approved as submitted and a copy of said
plans be kept on file in the Building Department and that all aspect of this plan shall be
maintained in perpetuity unless otherwise authorized by the Plan Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the approval contained in this
resolution shall result in the imposition of fines of $100 per day, the initiation of legal action, or
both.
