RECOMMENDATION OF APPROVAL TO AMEND FLOODPLAIN ZONING MAPS FOR
JEWEL CREEK LOCATED IN THE NE 1/4 OF SECTION 5, NW 114 AND SW 1/4 OF
SECTION 4, GENERALLY LOCATED BETWEEN COLLEGE AVENUE AND THE
CONFLUENCE WITH LllTLE MUSKEG0 LAKE
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego has petitioned to amend Chapter 14, Section 1.5(2)
of the Municipal Code in order to remove land from the regulated flood hazard area,
and
WHEREAS, Chapter NR 116.1 l(3) of the Wisconsin Administrative Code provides
certain criteria for redelineation or rezoning of flood districts, and the City of Muskego
is requesting an Official Floodplain Zoning Map Amendment pursuant to NR 116.21(6),
and
WHEREAS, This amendment does not become effective until it has been approved by
the Department of Natural Resources, and
WHEREAS, The Common Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the petition
on June 13,2000 at 7:25 PM.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission does hereby recommend
approval to the Common Council for the amendment to Chapter 14. Section 1.5(2),
Floodplain Zoning, regarding Jewel Creek floodplain being located in the NE 1/4 of
Section 5, NW 114 and SW 114 of Section 4, generally located between College
Avenue and the confluence with Little Muskego Lake.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That should the Common Council approve the
amendment to Chapter 14, the Municipal Code of the City would be amended and the
information required by Chapter NR 116 will be forwarded to the Department of Natural
Resources for their approval, and the change to the Official Floodplain Map does not
become effective until approved by the Department of Natural Resources.
