APPROVAL OF A MAIN IDENTIFICATION SIGN FOR SWATEK SALES CORPORATION,
AT THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT S75 W17226 JANESVILLE ROAD
(NEW MARATHON GAS STATION)
RESOLUTION #P.C. 136-98
WHEREAS, Plans for a main identification sign by Swatek Sales Corporation, was
submitted for the Marathon Gas Station at S75 W17226 Janesville Road on July 24, 1998, and
WHEREAS, The sign would be a two (2)-sided, 64 square feet, internally illuminated,
ground sign style structure located 30 feet from property line at the southeast comer or 20 feet
from property line at the southwest comer ofthe parcel, and
WHEREAS, The property is zoned B4/0ED, Highway Business District with an Existing
Development Overlay and conditional use grant and said signage does not conform with the
requirements of Section 6.09 of the Zoning Ordinance, exceeding the permitted square footage,
located too close to the road for the proposed height and also located within the vision triangle of
Janesville Road and Lannon Drive, and
WHEREAS, Per Section 6.09(6)(b) the Plan Commission is charged with the
responsibility of determining reasonable size and necessity for all operational signs.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approve of a two (2)-
sided, 64 square feet, internally illuminated, ground sign style structure located 30 feet from
property line at the southeast comer or 20 feet from property line at the southwest corner of
the parcel for Swatek Sales Corporation at the property located at S75 W17226 Janesville Road.
Landscaping plans for ground sign must be submitted for StaBapproval.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the sign plans are approved as submitted and a
copy of said plans be kept on file in the Building Department and that all aspect of this shall be
maintained in perpetuity unless otherwise authorized by the Plan Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the approval contained in
this resolution shall result in the imposition of fines of $100 per day, the initiation of legal action,
or both.
