APPROVAL TO AMEND A BUILDING, SITE AND OPERATION PLAN FOR
NEXTEL COMMUNICATIONS AT THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT
W 188 S8273 MERCURY DRIVE
WHEREAS, A site layout plan and construction plans were submitted by Nextel
Communications, Inc., on September 12, 1997, for a communications antenna and equipment
shelter to be located at the Public Works facility located at W188 S8273 Mercury Drive, and
WHEREAS, The communications antenna will be located on the top of the water tower
and the equipment shelter will be located near the base, and
WHEREAS, The equipment shelter is a I1 x 20 foot premanufactured concrete with brick
veneer walls and asphalt shingles all enclosed by a 21 x 55 foot exposed chain link fence, and
WHEREAS, The site is the current location of two existing communication antennas
located on the shaft of the water tower sharing a single looking 13 x 28 foot equipment shelter
WHEREAS, Said proposal is consistent with the recommendations given by City
consultants in regards to the location of communication equipment, and

WHEREAS, The property is zoned 1-1, Industrial Park and said use is a permitted use by
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves the amended
building, site and operation plan submitted (received September 12, 1997) for Nextel
Communications, Inc., that a copy of said plans be kept on file in the Building Department and
that all aspect of this plan as they relate to landscape areas and drainage shall be maintained in
perpetuity unless otherwise authorized by the Plan Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That if occupancy is requested prior to the completion of
landscaping and/or asphalting, a bond, letter of credit or cashiers check equal to twice the value of
said costs must be submitted to the Planning Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the approval contained in
this resolution shall result in the imposition of fines of $100 per day, the initiation of legal action,
or both.
