APPROVAL OF CONDITIONAL USE GRANT FOR A TWO FAMILY RESIDENCE
FOR JACK GALKOWSKI AT THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT
S70 W17235 KIRKWOOD DRIVE
(MOTHER-IN-LAW UNIT)
WHEREAS, Knutson Bros. Remodelers, Inc., agent for Jack Galkowski, submitted plans for
an expansiodrenovation of the residence located at S70 W17235 Kirkwood Drive on May 22, 1997,
and
WHEREAS, Said permit was placed on hold due to the fact that the circulation of the
proposed expansiodrenovation constituted a mother-in-law unit, and
WHEREAS, Said plans allowed direct access to the lower level from a combined rear entry,
and, the building plans depict that the mother-in-law unit is located at the basement level and consist
of a combined rear entry, and a full bath, recreation room and office that could be interpreted as a
separate bath, kitchen and bedroom, totaling 554 square feet, and
WHEREAS, The City's Zoning Ordinance permits this type of use as a Conditional Use in a
residentially zoned district upon the approval of the Plan Commission, and

WHEREAS, The regulations provide that the architectural character of the residence remain
single family in appearance and that the second unit does not exceed 800 square feet of the
res~dentlal floor area and that one person in each unit be related to a person in the other unit by
blood, marriage or adoption, and
WHEREAS, A public hearing has been held in conformance with Section 17:3.07 of the
City's Code of Ordinances, and owners of property within 300 feet of this property have been
notified of the public hearing.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission of the City of Muskego
approve the request for the Galkowski property for a single family residence and a mother-in-law
unit at S70 W17235 Kirkwood Drive and that the approval be subject to the conditions of Section
17:8.01 (7) C, IO of the City's Code of Ordinances.
