RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO COMMON COUNCIL
TO AMEND ZONING MAP & TEXT - SECTION 8.17 MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, The City has recently adopted a state mandated
Shoreland/Wetland zone district and provided map for same, and
WHEREAS, It is now necessary to update Section 8.17
(Wetland/Floodplain district) to remove the reference to
floodplain because Chapter 14 of the municipal code which was
mandated by HUD has covered floodplain and provided mapping for
same, and
WHEREAS, The State has mandated the Shoreland/Wetland
district which has been recently adopted, and
WHEREAS, There is wetland remaining outside of the
Shoreland/Wetland district within the City, and
WHEREAS, This mapping has recently been done by SEWRPC by
designating these areas in yellow on the maps, and
WHEREAS, Development in these areas will be regulated under
local control.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission
recommend to the Common Council that the zoning map and text be
amended to establish the new wetland district.
