APPROVAL OF A BUILDING SITE AND OPERATION PLAN AMENDMENT FOR
KOHLS DEPARTMENT STORE LOCATED IN THE SW ¼ OF SECTION 2
(S68 W15388 JANESVILLE ROAD / TAX KEY NO. 2167.995.008)
WHEREAS, On November 15, 2011 a submittal was received from CASCO for a BSO
Amendment for Kohl’s Department Store located at S68 W15388 Janesville Road (Tax Key No
2167.995.008), and
WHEREAS, A revised submittal was submitted on January 16, 2012, and
WHEREAS, The proposal includes some façade improvements on the front elevation of the
existing Kohl’s building, and
WHEREAS, The improvements are focused on the entrance/exit ways and include new painted
EIFS with minor framing over the existing structure, new steel plate column wraps over the
existing columns, two new tube steel “eyebrows”, and new aluminum store front with metal infill
panels, and
WHEREAS, There are no proposed changes to any other aspects of the building or the site, and
WHEREAS, The property is within the auspices of the General Design Guide, and more
specifically the Moorland Corridor South Design Guide, and
WHEREAS, The 2020 Plan depicts the area for commercial uses and the proposals are
consistent with the 2020 Plan, and
WHEREAS, The zoning of the property is PD-34 Dreamland Planned Development District and
the proposed uses are consistent with the zoning, and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves of an amended Building,
Site and Operation Plan for Kohl’s Department Store located at S68 W15388 Janesville Road
(Tax Key No 2167.995.008).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, All four (4) of the roof features must be converted to standing
seam metal roofing, not just the front two (2) roof features.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Any new signage will require formal permits from the Planning and
Building Divisions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That any new lighting will need Planning Division approvals to be
sure that all of the City’s lighting requirements are being met.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of said plans be kept on file in the Community
Development Department and that all aspects of this plan shall be maintained in perpetuity unless
otherwise authorized by the Plan Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That failure to comply with the approval contained in this
resolution shall result in the imposition of fines of $100 per day, the initiation of legal action, or
both.
