Salentine Dear Aldermen: adopted Resolution #214-82, entitled, Resolution Restricting Smoking in City Hall Areas Where .4 Public Meeting is king hela by a vote of 6 - 1. At your meeting held on October 26, 1982, you issue due to the fact that an alderman and some members of various appointed committees and boards of the city are smokers. It is my sincere hope that some sort of compromise can be effectively worked out. This resolution has become a very controversial number of votes to override my veto of this resolution, Although I recognize there could be a sufficient I feel the wording of the resolution does not present a procedure nor does it designate who would be respon- sible for enforcement. The issue has not been reviewed by a committee of the Council and because of the impact it could have on the Council and members of commissions and boards, I feel the matter should be discussed at a future Rules, Laws and Ordinance Committee meeting and hopefully can be resolved to everyone's satisfaction. the matter to the appropriate committee.
