AWARD OF BID
Tess Corners Drive Box Culvert Replacement Project
WHEREAS, The City advertised for bids for the Tess Corners Drive Box Culvert Replacement
Project and the following bids were received:
A. W. Oakes Construction, Inc.
Woleske Construction, Inc.
K & L Construction, Inc.
Globe Contractors, Inc.
Rawson Contractors, Inc.
$ 99,000.00
$121,730.00
$138,675.00
$193,970.00
$285,995.00
WHEREAS, The apparent low bidder, A. W. Oakes Construction, Inc., submitted a request to
withdraw their bid due to an omission in their bid calculations and the City Engineer
recommends that A. W. Oakes be allowed to withdraw their bid; and
WHEREAS, The City Engineer has reviewed the remaining bids and recommends the bid
submitted by Woleske Construction, Inc. in the amount of $121,730 be accepted for the Tess
Corners Drive Box Culvert Replacement Project; and
WHEREAS, The Finance Committee has reviewed the bids and recommends the bid submitted
by Woleske Contruction, Inc. be accepted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of Muskego,
upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby accept the bid of Woleske
Construction, Inc. in the total amount of $121 ,730 for the Tess Corners Drive Box Culvert
Replacement Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Mayor and Clerk-Treasurer are hereby authorized to
sign the necessary documents in the name of the City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Mayor or his designee are authorized to sign any
changes at his discretion upon recommendation of the City Engineer.

Tess Comers Drive Box Culvert Replacement Project

Bids for the Tess Comers Drive Box Culvert Replacement Project were opened and read
aloud on August 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the City of Muskego City Hall and were as follows
(also see attached bid summary):

5. Ra,,:son Contractors, Inc $285,995.00
Apparent low bidder A.W.Oakes Construction has submitted a request to withdraw their bid
due to an omission in their bid calculations. Based upon my review of the calculations and
meeting with representatives of AW.Oakes, I recommend that AW.Oakes be allowed to
withdraw their bid.
The next low bidder, W oleske Construction, Inc., has submitted pre-qualification documents
with the City of Muskego and is prepared to complete the project at their bid of$121,730.00. I
have called other communities about work completed by Woleske and the fmn to be highly
recommended. $200,000 is included in the 2007 budget for this project. The City's design
engineer, Ayres Asso., estimated the construction cost at $183,000.00.
This contract is a unit price contract based on estimated quantities so the final contract amount
may be slightly less or more than the bid amount.

The bid is well below the estimate and within budget, therefore, I recommend that the
Woleske Construction, Inc bid of $121,730.00 be accepted for the Tess Comers Drive Box
Culvert Replacement Project.
