COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO
RESOLUTION #112-2007
RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATE
IN THE DNR ACQUISITION OF THE LEONARD WOODS PROPERTY
WHEREAS, The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has approached the City to
participate in a conservation land acquisition of the Leonard Woods Property on Priegel Drive
(Part of Tax Key #2254.999.005); and
WHEREAS, The site has been identified as a high priority conservation area in the City's
adopted Conservation Plan and would become part of the Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area; and
WHEREAS, The Conservation Commission has recommended that the City financially
participate in the acquisition with the DNR; and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego has established a land conservation fund for the acquisition
of properties throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, The Finance Committee has reviewed the request from the DNR and has
recommended that the City contribute 25% of the acquisition price or $111,250, whichever is
less, toward this land acquisition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of Muskego,
upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby agree to support and
participate in the DNR acquisition of the Leonard Woods property on Priegel Drive and does
hereby authorize payment of up to 25% of the acquisition price or $111,250, whichever is less,
to the DNR for acquisition of the property.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That in the event the DNR does not maintain the property in a
manner consistent with the Big Muskego Lake Wildlife Area, any said change in use shall
require approval of the City of Muskego.
