PCR2008034 ./PCR2008034_files/filelist.xml RESOLUTION #PC 034-2008 Print 86 6 pt 6 pt 0   AMENDED RESOLUTION #P.C. 034-2008 APPROVAL OF A MUNICIPAL WATER TOWER LOCATED IN THE NE ¼ OF SECTION 3 WITHIN THE MUSKEGO COMMERCE CENTER (MOORLAND ROAD AND COLLEGE AVENUE)   WHEREAS, The Muskego Public Utilities Department has forwarded a request for approval of constructing a new water tower within the newly approved Muskego Commerce Center located in the NE ¼ of Section 3 (around the southwest corner of Moorland Road and College Avenue), and   WHEREAS, Plan Commission traditionally approves all new institutional facilities, thus the new water tower requires the same approvals, and   WHEREAS, As part of the Tax Incremental District #10 approvals, the need for a new municipal water tower in the Moorland Road corridor area was required to adequately service the future commercial/business facilities in the area, and   WHEREAS, The water tower will be located approximately 200 feet south of College Avenue and about 400 feet west of Moorland Road, and   WHEREAS, The tower will be constructed in connection with the GE Healthcare building this summer, and   WHEREAS, Construction traffic will all come off of Moorland Road and access for construction and future maintenance to the site will occur from the south off the new Commerce Center roadways as to not hamper College Avenue, and   WHEREAS, The proposed tank will augment the capacity of the City’s existing storage tanks as the existing system currently consists of two other storage tanks, and   WHEREAS, The new tower will be a “single pedestal spheroid design” similar to the one found by the Muskego City garage in the Muskego Industrial Park, and   WHEREAS, The capacity of the new tank will be 750,000 gallons, will be about 80 feet tall, and about 64 feet in diameter, and   WHEREAS, The new tank will provide a variety of benefits to the City including: ·    A new reliable source for fire fighting with increased fire pressure flows.  The storage tank will essentially be able to provide adequate fire flows while not placing the burden on the existing City wells; ·    Provide a source of water during prolonged impairments to the normal supply, such as power outages; ·    Provide a source of water to meet short duration peak city (non-fire) demands that cannot be met by pumped sources alone, and   WHEREAS, The new water tower is required for development in the Moorland Road Corridor to take place as this area of development potential is considerably distant from the other water towers making the area deficient for fire fighting capabilities, and   WHEREAS, Analyses show that without the tower, less than 1,500 gallons per minute would be supplied to the Moorland Road area, whereas with the tower, more than 4,000 gallons per minute will be supplied, and   WHEREAS, Many designs for the painting of the water tower have been supplied by the City’s consultants.   THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission approves the water tower within the newly approved Muskego Commerce Center located in the NE ¼ of Section 3.   BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission recommends the painting of the water tower to _________________________________.   BE IT FURTHER RESOVLED, That the Plan Commission will re-review the painting of the facility once the water tower is constructed.   Plan Commission City of Muskego   Adopted:         March 4, 2008 Defeated:        Deferred:         Introduced:     March 4, 2008 ATTEST:            Kellie Renk, Recording Secretary
