RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNICIL TO
REQUEST WAUKESHA COUNTY TOI REDUCE
THE SPEED LIMIT ON RACINE AVENUE
WHEREAS, The Public Works Committee and City staff have studied the traffic on
Racine Avenue south of Woods Road to the Racine County lilne; and
WHEREAS, The Public Works Committee and City staff have determined that a
request should be submitted to Waukesha County to reduce the speed limit on Racine
Avenue from North Shore Lane to 1500 feet norttl of Kelsey Drive to 40 miles per hour;
and
WHEREAS, This request is the result of 17 accidents from the end of 2004 to 2005;
and
WHEREAS, In addition, City of Muskego Police Chief John Johnson has requested that
consideration be given to the fact that there is a school, fire station and new subdivision
development in the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of
Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Public Works Committee, does hereby
request that the speed limit on Racine Avenue be reduced to 40 miles per hour from
North Shore LanE~ to 1500 feet north of Kelsey Drive.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a copy of the adopted Resolution will be forwarded
to Waukesha County.
