RECOMMENDATION TO COUNCIL TO REZONE THE KUEHN PROPERTY FROM M-2 GENERAL INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT TO B-2 LOCAL SERVICE CENTER DISTRICT LOCATED IN THE NE ¼ OF SECTION 17
(TAX KEY NO. 2225.999.012 / MERCURY DRIVE AND JANESVILLE ROAD)
WHEREAS, On January 3, 2008 a petition for rezoning was submitted by Kuehn Properties LLC to rezone a property from the M-2 General Industrial District to B-2 Local Service Center
District (Tax Key No. 2225.999.012 / Mercury Drive and Janesville Road), and
WHEREAS, The application for the rezoning was in relation to the Plan Commission approval of the Journal Sentinel building on this property back in 2007, and
WHEREAS, The surrounding landowners and the Plan Commission had requested that the landowner pursue this rezoning to ensure less intense land uses along Janesville Road, and
WHEREAS, A Public Hearing for the rezoning was heard before the Common Council on February 12, 2008, and
WHEREAS, The petition would allow commercial uses instead of full-scale industrial uses, as defined in the zoning code, and
WHEREAS, The property is currently served by public sewer and water, and
WHEREAS, The 2010 Comprehensive Plan depicts the property for industrial uses and said rezoning is consistent with the plan as the plan allows commercial uses as well.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Plan Commission does hereby recommend approval to the Common Council for the rezoning from the M-2 General Industrial District to B-2 Local Service
Center District for Kuehn Properties (Tax Key No. 2225.999.012 / Mercury Drive and Janesville Road).
