RESOLUTION #206-2005
RESOLUTION TO DIRECT STAFF
TO PREPARE CONTRACTS FOR PURCHASE OF A PHONE SYSTEM
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego is interested in maintaining peak efficiencies of all
internal operations; and
WHEREAS, The existing telephone system has inefficiencies in terms of the number of
lines that must be utilized and the cost of local calling service; and
WHEREAS, New telephone systems have additional features and reporting available
that can increase the effectiveness and management of communications within the
City; and
WHEREAS, The City can save operating costs by using a system that uses Integrated
Services Digital Network Primary Rate Interface (ISDN PRI) lines and limited local
trunks; and
WHEREAS, The voicemail system of the City is no longer supported by the vendor and
will either have to be replaced separately or as part of a new telephone system; and
WHEREAS, The City has received 11 quotes from 7 different companies to actualize
the efficiencies and features available in a new system; and
WHEREAS, The lowest cost quote that addressed the telephone needs of City Hall,
Police, Library and Municipal Garage locations is TDS Telecom.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of
Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, hereby directs staff to
prepare contracts for the purchase of a phone system through TDS Telecom.
