CCR2003158. . . AMENDED COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO RESOLUTION #158-2003 ESTABLISH PARKING RESTRICTIONS MUSKEGO HIGH SCHOOL WHEREAS, The Muskego/Norway School District and the City of Muskego share a concern for the safety of students who park on the street in the area of Muskego High School; and WHEREAS, For various reasons students elect to park on the streets in increasing number; and WHEREAS, The crash history on adjacent streets, in particular Racine Avenue, indicates school related crashes as a result of on-street student parking; and WHEREAS, Numerous complaints are made of near misses involving student pedestrians walking to and from vehicles parked on Racine Avenue; and WHEREAS, Snowplowing, road maintenance, mailbox access, and vision corner obstruction of residential driveways on both City and County streets adjacent to the school are a concern; and WHEREAS, Numerous complaints from residents relating to littering, trespassing, and other disorderly-type acts, increase proportionally to the location and number of on-street parking; and WHEREAS, The Superintendent of Muskego/Norway School District, Waukesha County Department of Transportation Director, City of Muskego Mayor, the District Alderman and the City of Muskego Police Chief met to discuss the problem concluding that the most effective way to rectify the aforementioned safety and nuisance concerns is to establish a % mile "No Parking" zone on both County and City streets adjacent to Muskego High School; and WHEREAS, The present "No Parking" zones adjacent to the school are approximately % to % mile on City streets and on County roads % mile on Racine Avenue north of the school and 1/3 mile on Racine Avenue south of the school. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Common Council of the City of Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Public Services Committee, does hereby establish "No Parking" restrictions on City streets within % mile from the Muskego High School per attached Resolution #157-2003. . . .~ Resolution #158-2003 Page 2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Common Council of the City of Muskego requests the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors establish parking restrictions from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM Monday thru Friday on both sides of Racine Avenue for approximately % of a mile from the Muskego High School, which is to Gemini Drive on the north, and to Henneberry Drive on the south. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Muskego request the Waukesha County Board of Supervisors establish within the above resolved a "No Parking At Any Time" restriction on Racine Avenue from Pioneer Drive to a point 250 feet north of the Muskego Police Department driveway on the east side of Racine Avenue (paved shoulder) for the purpose of a vision and turning lane for the Muskego City Hall and Police Department complex.
