RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR THE
DREDGING OF SCHUBRING BAY AND ISLAND DRIVE BAY AREAS
OF LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE
WHEREAS, The Little Muskego Lake Protection and Rehabìlìtation District has
submitted an application to the DNR for the dredging of the Schubring Bay and Island
Drive Bay areas of Little Muskego Lake in the City of Muskego; and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego's Engineering Department has reviewed the
application and supports these projects for the following reasons:
. It is in the best interest for the use and enjoyment of the lake that they
dredge to the maximum amount allowable and practical.
. If minimum amounts of dredging are allowed in and around the water and
outlets of the Bay without looking at an entire cross section of the Bay,
wave action and standard current boating traffic will eventually and
potentially, in the short term, re-silt the Bay. If this should happen, it not
only will waste the Little Muskego Lake District's limited funds, it may be
detrimental to other parts of the lake's ecology.

. Further investigation of the probings should be reviewed to get to existing
hard bottom. Based on the limited information enclosed in the permit, it
could be in excess of 4 - 6 feet.
. A Lake Management Plan for Little Muskego Lake adopted in June of
1996 proposes the use of dredging as a legitimate restoration measure.
WHEREAS, The Common Council concurs with the rationale provided by the
Engineering Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of
Muskego does hereby support the application filed with the DNR by the Little Muskego
Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District for reasons as listed above.
