COMMON COUNCIL. CITY OF MUSKEGO
RESOLUTION #041.2003
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LOCAL AND WISCONSIN
MILITARY PERSONNEL
WHEREAS, President George W. Bush, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the
United States of America, has called up military reserves and ordered troops to the Persian Gulf
in preparation for possible military action against Saddam Hussein and troops loyal to him; and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego and surrounding communities in Waukesha County and the
State of Wisconsin as a whole have fathers, mothers, sons and daughters serving in the United
States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, Local and Wisconsin military personnel in preparation for this possible military
action represent the citizens of Wisconsin, and the wives, husbands, children, parents, and,
friends they have left behind; and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin's military personnel have taken with them the hopes, the hearts, and the
respect of the citizens of Muskego; and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin's military personnel have taken with them the ideals this country was
founded upon and which have made it strong, the love of freedom, the willingness to make
personal sacrifice for a greater cause, the duty to help those in need, and the responsibility to
act with honor in the face of infamy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of Muskego
declares that though the citizens of Muskego may have differing opinions about the mission in
the Persian Gulf, all recognize and appreciate the sacrifices of the courageous men and women
serving our nation in the armed forces, look forward to their safe return, and honor and support
them in the difficult tasks ahead.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the citizens of Muskego, Wisconsin and surrounding
communities are encouraged to offer supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks
for our nation's leaders and for those men and women defending our country both at home and
in distant lands.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City Clerk will forward a copy of this resolution to
Governor Doyle, State Senator Lazich, State Representative Gunderson, U.S. Senators Kohl
and Feingold and U.S. Representative Ryan, and President George W. Bush.
