RESOLUTION #133-2001
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONSOLIDATION OF
TOWN OF VERNON AND VILLAGE OF BIG BEND
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego is a neighbor to the Town of Vernon and the Village of
Big Bend in Waukesha County; and
WHEREAS, The Town of Vernon and the Village of Big Bend have been discussing the
possible consolidation of their communities to form one municipality over the past two
years under the provisions of s66.0229. Wis. Stats., and
WHEREAS, The creation of this new municipality would appear to benefit the citizens of
the Town and the Village by expanding the provision of services, alleviating or
broadening some of the tax burden, eliminating territorial conflicts between the two and
providing a unified approach in planning for future development; and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego as part of the Waukesha County community, has no
objection to and supports the joining of the Village of Big Bend and the Town of Vernon
as one municipality.
0 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of
Muskego does hereby offer its support and encouragement to the Town of Vernon
Town Board and the Village of Big Bend Village Board in their efforts to consolidate the
two communities; and, authorizes and directs the City Clerk-Treasurer to send a copy of
this resolution to the clerks of the Town of Vernon and the Village of Big Bend and to
the Director of the Municipal Boundary Review of the State of Wisconsin's Department
of Administration.
