CCR2000136COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEG0 RESOLUTION #136-2000 A RESOLUTION WAIVING CONFLICT OF INTEREST WHEREAS, the Attorneys for the Town of Vernon, ARENZ. MOLTER, MACY & RIFFLE, S.C., represent both the Town of Vernon, (hereinafter "Vernon"), and the City of Muskego, (hereinafter "Muskego") and WHEREAS, pursuant to s66.02, Wis. Stats., Vernon is in the process of negotiations relating to possible consolidation with the Village of Big Bend; and WHEREAS, ARENZ, MOLTER, MACY & RIFFLE, S.C., has notified Muskego that the firm cannot represent both Vernon's and Muskego's interest in part because of Supreme Couri Rule 20:l 7, which provides that a lawyer shall not represent a client if the representation of that client will be directly adverse to another client unless the lawyer reasonably believes the representation will not adversely affect the relationship with the other client and each client consents in writing, after consultation; and WHEREAS, ARENZ, MOLTER, MACY & RIFFLE, S.C., has consulted with Muskego and advised Muskego that Muskego's interests could be materially impacted by the consolidation of Vernon with the Village of Big Bend; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Common Council of the City of Muskego hereby consents to the City Attorneys, ARENZ, MOLTER, MACY & RIFFLE, S.C., representing Vernon in its consolidation efforts with the Village of Big Bend.
