CCR1999031CITY OF MUSKEG0 - COMMON COUNCIL RESOLUTION #31-99 RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION'S PROPOSED AREA CODE BOUNDARIES WHEREAS, The City of Muskego is a community of approximately 36 square miles in southeastern Wisconsin that was incorporated in 1964, and WHEREAS, The City of Muskego was preceded by the Town of Muskego which over the years had several distinct population centers, and WHEREAS, The Town had two phone exchanges, one for Waukesha and one for Milwaukee because of this historic split, and WHEREAS, Now because of this historic split the PSC is intending to rule that new area code boundaries be set based on these historic boundaries, and WHEREAS, It is not in the best interest of the City of Muskego's citizens and customers of Ameritech that this community be split in half by different area codes, and WHEREAS, The PSC has recognized the impact of this division and has directed staff to look for alternatives prior to rendering a final ruling, and WHEREAS, The Commission should continue to look for alternatives to this division for whatever length of time necessary that would have the least amount of impact on the citizens 0 and customers of Muskego and unite us into one area code with the impact on the utility being secondary NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Muskego do hereby strenuously object to the division of the community by differing area codes, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That we encourage the PSC to look at all alternatives to eliminate this split with the most minimal impact to the citizens and customers of Muskego with the cost or impact to the utility to be considered secondary, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City of Muskego will cooperate wherever possible to achieve this goal for all of its citizens, DATED THIS & DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1999.
