CCR1988110COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEG0 RESOLUTION #110-88 REQUESTING THAT CONSTRUCTION OF STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY 36 FROM CITY OF BURLINGTON TO MILWAUKEE COUNTY LINE BE REVEIWED AND PROGRAMMED TO BE BUILT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WHEREAS, State Trunk Highway 36 in the County of Racine is presently constructed as a two-lane highway linking the Greater Burlington Area with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area, and WHEREAS, the majority of the necessary right-of-way has previously been acquired for the expansion of this highway to a divided four-lane facility, and highway, causing fatalities and personal injuries, together with WHEREAS, numerous accidents have occurred on this stretch of property damage, and WHEREAS, traffic count along State Trunk Highway 36 is increasing steadily due to development in adjoining municipalities, creating potential dangers in the use of that highway. 0 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Public Works Committee, does hereby encourage the State of Wisconsin to immediately move forward with appropriate procedures, including preliminary engineering, and hold the necessary public hearings to explain the impact of the project on the communities regarding purchase of additional rights-of-way and possible elimination of access points, and allow for public input.
