RESOLUTION DECLINING PARTICIPATION IN THE WAUKESHA
COUNTY FEDERATED LIBRARY SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the City of Muskego has been requested to consider
becoming part of a county federated library system, and
WHEREAS, such a system could encourage increasing use of
library services and make them available to citizens who
presently are not served by a public library, and
WHEREAS, a federated library system could improve inter-
library communications as well as improve the services of
existing libraries, and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Muskego acknowledges
the value of a federated library system but has certain
reservations regarding the proposals submitted by the Special
Library Committee of the Waukesha County Board, and
WHEREAS, some of these concerns are as follows: e
1. Could it cause the expansion of the city's library
and eventually lead to the need of a separate
facility?
2. Would the increased demands on the city's library
services result in the need of additional personnel?
3. What will happen in the event the aids which are
presently available are withdraw by the State?
4. The cost to the citizens of communities who do not
presently have a library will be considerably less
than the cost to those citizens who support a library
by their taxes within their obm couununities.

5. The requirement that a community participate for a

of Muskego, although recognizing the benefits of a federated
library system, does hereby decline to join the !Jaukesha County
Federated Library System at this time.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Waukesha County Board is requested
