EXPRESSING THE CITY'S OPPOSITION TO
PUBLIC ACCESS ON BASS BAY
WHEREAS, on the 14th day of August, 1979, the Common Council
adopted Resolution #162-79, As Amended, entitled, Assuring the
State Department of NaturaPResources of the City's Willingness
Acce'ss to Big Muskego Lake and Bass Bay, and to Cooperate in the Development and Management of a Public
WHEREAS, on the basis. of that resolution the Department of
Natural. Resources..granted aid:~to the Big Muskego~-~Lake - Bass
Bay:.P-rotect~ion~' and .Rehab'iXitation. District' in order .that- a
feaEibility s,tudy could^ be conducted;- and-:;
WHEREAS, the representatives of the. DNR;"'in cooperation .with
several residents in the vicinity of Big Muskego Lake-and Bass
Bay~have looked at several potential public access sites; and
WHEREAS, at a meeting recently held with representatives of the
DNR it appeared that a public access on Bass Bay was being
given high priority, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the majority of the citizens living
on or near Bass Bay and Big Muskego Lake that such a public
access is not in their best interest,
Muskego does hereby declare its opposition to the possibility
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of
of a public access being created in the Bass Bay area.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the opinion of the Common
Council that a public access directly onto Big Muskego would
make available the natural resources of Big Muskego Lake and
Bass Bay to a greater number of citizens than if the access were
on Bass Bay.

BE IT FURTHER FESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent
to the representatives of the Department of Natural Resources.
