URGING CONSTRUCTION OF SHADOW PASSING LANE
ON CERTAIN AREA OF HIGHWAY "24" e
b WHEREAS, the volume of traffic on Janesville Road has
steadily increased over the past few years particularly
in the area of the new shopping center, Sentry Foods and
the Parkland Subdivision,and
WHEREAS, the increased traffic has created a dangerous
situation by vehicles wishing to turn left into any of
these areas, and
WHEREAS, Wisconsin Statutes, Section 346.08 permits passing
on the right only if the vehicle can do so without driving
off the pavement or the main traveled portion of the
roadway, and
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Committee has recommended that
the Common Council urge the State Highway Commission to
build a shadow passing lane on the south side of Janes-
ville Road approximately 40 feet west of the west entrance
to the Parkland Shopping Center and approximately 40 feet
east of the intersection of Parkland Drive and Janesville
Road,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the
City of Muskego does hereby urge the State Highway Com-
mission to consider the building of a shadow passing
lane on the south side of Janesville Road approximately
40 feet west of the west entrance to the Parkland Shopping
Center and approximately 40 feet east of the intersection
of Parkland Drive and Janesville Road.
BE IT NRTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
shall be sent to the District Office of the State of Wis-
consin Department of Transportation, the Waukesha County
Highway Commission and the Waukesha County Board of Super-
visors representing the City of Muskego.
