AMENDMENT TO RANK STRUCTURE OF POLI~E DEPARTMENT
* WHEREAS, the Safety Committee has been evaluating the present
personnel structure of the Police Department, and
WHEREAS, it is their feeling that one of the three positions
of Lieutenant should be abolished, a third position of Sergeant
created, the position of Juvenile Officer abolished, the
position of Police Cadet abolished and the present position of
Patrolman be renamed to be Police Officer and two additional
positions of Police Officer created.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council, upon the
recommendation of the Public Safety Committee, does hereby
establish the following rank structure for the Police Department
of the City of Muskego:

Lieutenants
Sergeants
Police Officers
Dispatcher Clerks
Staff Secretary
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the position of Police Officer shall
have the following grade structure:
Police Officer 111 - Entrance level sworn officer
Qualifications - 2 years of higher education at the college
or university level (60 credit hours)
preferably in police science.
Police Officer 11 -
Qualifications - 1% years of service at the Police Officer 111
level and 2% years of higher education at the
college or university level (75 credit hours)
or in lieu of the additional 15 credits an
additional 1% years of service at the Police
Officer 111 level for a total of three years
at Police Officer 111 level.
Police Officer I -
Qualifications - 1% years of service at the Police Officer I1
level and 3 years of higher education at the
college or university level (90 credit hours)
or in lieu of the additional 15 credits an
additional 1% years of service at the Police
Officer 11 level for a total of three years
at Police Officer 11 level.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon the completion of these
qualifications there shall be an automatic movement to
the next highest grade.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all present Police Officers will
be classified as Police Officer I after they have reached
two years of service.
