CCR1972035RESOLUTION 1/35-72 (Amended) *- ESTABLISHING VACATION POLICY FOR CITY EMPLOYEES WHEREAS, the Finance Committee has recommended that a vacation policy for city employes be established, a THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of the City of Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby adopt the following vacation policy for all city employes: 1. All full-time city employes shall be granted vacation with pay as follows: (Regular part-time employes shall receive one-half of these vacation amounts.) 10 days after the 1st year and through the 5th year of employment . 15 days after the 5th year, and after the 6th year, one additional day per year to a maximum of 20 days. 2. Prior to January 1 of each year the City Clerk shall advise all department heads of the amount of vacation each of their employes are entitled to use during the following calendar year. All department heads will also be required to submit quarterly employe vacation status reports to the City Clerk's office. 2(b) All employes shall be notified by their department head prior to January 1st as to the amount of vacation they are entitled to. 3. 4. 5. The hiring dates of all employes shall be converted to the first day of a month (see following formula) and the resulting date shall be used to determine the amount of vacation they are entitled to. HIRING OR ENDING DATE CONVERSION FORMULA ON OR BEFORE THE 16th - 1ST DAY OF THE MONTH HIRED ON THE 17th OR THEREAFTER - 1ST DAY OF THE FOLLOWING MONTH Vacation leave shall not be cumulative and personnel shall take earned vacation within the year earned except that the City Council or their authorized representatives may allow earned vacation time to accumulate (carry over to another calendar year) if an employe gets prior consent or if this action is determined to be in the best interest of the city. An employe's hiring date shall not be changed and his vacation benefits shall not continue to accrue if an employe is laid off or on an authorized leave without pay for a period exceed- ing twenty (20) working days. However, under the preceding if an employe returns to work his previous vacation status shall apply in establishing his new hiring date for determination of his vacation amounts. Page 2. 6. Employes, when separated from city employment, will be compensated at their regular salary for earned and unused vacation accumulated to their credit. Similarily employes shall reim- burse the city for any vacation used but not earned. .I 7. Each department head or supervisor shall be given the authority to schedule and approve vacation usage, giving due consideration to seniority rights, the needs of service, and the staff re- quired to perform the ongoing departmental activities. 0 DATED THIS /!
