COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO
RESOLUTION #210-2008
RESOLUTION TO ELIMINATE THE EXISTING DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION
SYSTEMS AND TO CREATE THE GIS/IS DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, With the adoption of the 2009 operating budget, the Common Council of the City
of Muskego determined that the existing Department of Information Systems would be
eliminated; and
WHEREAS, The Common Council further determined that a new department should be
created to meet the City’s GIS/IS needs; and
WHEREAS, The creation of the GIS/IS (Geographic Information Systems/Information
Systems) Department is proposed to replace the existing Department of Information Systems;
and
WHEREAS, The Finance Committee has reviewed the attached job description for the GIS/IS
Coordinator position and has recommended approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of Muskego
upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee does hereby eliminate the existing
Department of Information Systems and does hereby create the GIS/IS Department effective
January 1, 2009.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the existing position of Director of Information Systems will
be eliminated as of January 1, 2009.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the current GIS Coordinator, John Wisniewski, is hereby
appointed as the GIS/IS Coordinator and that the associated salary for this position will be
determined upon the completion of the ongoing salary study retroactive to January 1, 2009.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That due to this being an exempt position, John
Wisniewski will be allowed 15 days of vacation the first year and then be allowed to
accrue additional days of vacation, consistent with the City of Muskego vacation days
policy, as if the individual has worked in the City for a five-year period.
