RESOLUTION #173-2008
APPROVAL OF FINANCING OPTION
FOR RADIO COMMUNICATION INFRASTRUCTURE
WHEREAS, It is anticipated that 2009 Waukesha County Capital Budget will include
funds to convert the current radio analog trunking system to digital beginning in 2013;
and
WHEREAS, The cost of the project is estimated at $9.5 million with the County paying
for 50% of the project and the remaining cost allocated to the user municipalities; and
WHEREAS, In order to be eligible for a 10-year, no interest loan, the City of Muskego,
as a municipal partner, must prepay a portion of its share of the cost for the future
system; and
WHEREAS, The Committee of the Whole reviewed the option of five annual
prepayments of $15,062 commencing in 2009 as recommended by Police Department
personnel. These payments would earn interest of an estimated 4% to 4.5% that would
be compounded and applied to the City’s project debt.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of
Muskego does hereby approve making five annual prepayments in the amount of
$15,062 to Waukesha County beginning in 2009 for the proposed communications
infrastructure project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Mayor is authorized to sign the necessary
documentation in the name of the City.
