RESOLUTION #153-2008
AUTHORIZATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
WILDLIFE HABITAT INCENTIVE PROGRAM (WHIP)
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Agriculture - Natural Resources
Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS) has a Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program
(WHIP), which promotes the enhancement of wildlife habitats; and
WHEREAS, The program pays participants for certain conservation practices; and
WHEREAS, The City’s five-year management plan calls for prescribed burns to be
done at two of its conservation sites; and
WHEREAS, The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program will pay $70 an acre for burns
done at the Engel Conservation Area and Blattner Preserve in 2009; and
WHEREAS, As a result of participating in the WHIP, the City will receive $2,198 for
prescribed burns in 2009 at 23.4 acres - Engel Conservation Area and 7.1 acres -
Blattner Preserve.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of
Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby authorize
Mayor John R. Johnson to sign the necessary documents for the City to participate in
the Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program in 2009.
