RESOLUTION #133-2008
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE ONE-TIME VOLUNTARY
EARLY RETIREMENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, It is the desire of the City to offer a one-time voluntary early retirement
incentive program to assist in meeting future budget shortfalls; and
WHEREAS, The proposed parameters for the program have been reviewed by the
City’s labor counsel and
WHEREAS, The concept of such a program was presented by the Mayor at Committee
of the Whole on June 10, 2008; and
WHEREAS, The Finance Committee has reviewed the proposed program and has
recommended approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of
Muskego, upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee, does hereby offer a
one-time voluntary early retirement incentive program for employees who work in City
Hall, the Department of Public Works/Utilities, or the Parks Department with the
following parameters:
To be eligible for the program, employees within City Hall, Department of Public
Works/Utilities, or the Parks Department must be full-time employees having fifteen
(15) years of continuous service with the City.
Employees voluntarily choosing to participate in the program must formally elect to
participate by August 15, 2008, and retire on October 1, 2008.
The benefit provided under this program to be as follows:
The City will pay the full amount of health insurance premium for the level of
coverage in effect at the time of election (i.e. single, limited, or family) plus any
increase/decreases in premiums that occur for 27 months beginning October 1,2008
and ending the earliest of
1) December 31, 2010
2) Date of Medicare eligibility; or
3) Date participant is eligible for health insurance coverage from another
employer
