RESOLUTION #069-2008
APPROVAL OF THE CITY OF MUSKEGO GRANT REIMBURSABLE PROGRAM
SUBMITTAL FOR THE BURYING OF UTILITIES AND STREETSCAPING/BEAUTIFICATION
OF THE FUTURE RECONSTRUCTION OF JANESVILLE ROAD
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego Common Council agrees to the preparation of an application
for a reimbursable grant for the burying of utilities and streetscaping/beautification of the future
reconstruction of Janesville Road;
WHEREAS, The State of Wisconsin provides opportunities for municipalities to receive grant
reimbursements via the Statewide Multi-Modal Improvement Program (SMIP); and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego must undertake
The City of Muskego is partnering with Waukesha County to reconstruct Janesville Road thru
the “downtown” of Muskego; and
WHEREAS, Reconstruction will occur along a two-mile stretch widening the road from two-
lanes to four-lanes and this is the largest public works project ever taken on by Waukesha
County; and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego acknowledges that funding this future project will be high,
but is a priority for the future of the community; and
WHEREAS, The City of Muskego supports opportunities for offsetting the costs fo the project
for the burying of utilities and for the construction/design of the landscaping, streetscaping,
pedestrian facilities, and scenic beautification portions of the new roadway; and
WHEREAS, Muskego is required by the County to absorb all costs related to these aesthetic
items and the City wants to guarantee this project is distinctive when completed to ensure a
unique sense of place for the community.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Muskego Common Council hereby
agrees and encourages the application for a reimbursable grant for the burying of utilities and
streetscaping/beautification of the future reconstruction of Janesville Road.
