CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order at 6:OOPM by Commissioner Kuspa.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Kuspa, Jaske, Boyer, Hauboldt and Hammitt were present. Chief Westphal,
Captain Fons and Lieutenant Rozeski were also present.
STATEMENT OF PUBLIC NOTICE
APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner Hammitt made a motion to approve the minutes
from 02/20/25. Commissioner Jaske seconded. Motion passed, all in favor.
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Westphal advised he recently attended an FBI Leadership Symposium in Washington.
He advised there were 40 chiefs in attendance, all with departments of 50 or less sworn
personnel. Chief advised the market/conditions for police officer recruiting has changed. Of
the 40 departments in attendance, only 1 was operating at full staff.
Chief advised that Jared Sandretti has been promoted to Sergeant and it will be brought forth
at the next meeting for approval, as the agenda was unable to be amended in time for this
meeting.
This weekend Chief will be participating in the Special Olympics being held at Muskego High
School. Chief, along with the cadets will be involved in the torch run portion.
This week is police week, and at 11:59PM, tomorrow, May 14, 2025, a bagpiper will be present
in front of the police department to play in honor/memory of retired Captain Craig Simuncak
who passed away last year, and all law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of
duty in 2024.
Friday, 05/16/25, is the Waukesha County Law Enforcement Memorial, Captain Craig
Simuncak and K9 Officer Sirius will be remembered during the service.
Chief was asked to speak at this year's high school graduation ceremony.
Jammin in the Park planning has started.
Chief has been in contact with Holly Reidy reference the Holly's Hope event at Bluhm Park.
The department is very appreciative of the Lions Club and the Reidy family for donations to the
DARE program.
MOTION OF CLOSED SESSION
Following conclusion of consideration of the above portion of its regularly scheduled agenda,
the Police and Fire Commission will meet to vote on a motion to convene in Closed Session for
discussion on an officer personnel matter.
A closed session for the above purpose is authorized pursuant to the provisions of Wisconsin
State Statute, Section 19.85 (1) (C): Considering employment, promotion, compensation, or
performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has
jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
Upon conclusion of the Closed Session, the Police and Fire Commission will convene in Open
Session to consider its public agenda, including motions to recommend approval or rejection of
the above -listed deliberations or any of the public agenda items that have not been acted
upon.
Commissioner Boyer made a motion to go into closed session, Commissioner Hammitt
seconded. Motion passed all in favor. Meeting went into closed session at 6:10PM.
OPEN SESSION
Commissioner Hauboldt made a motion to go back into open session, Commissioner Boyer
seconded. Motion passed all in favor. Meeting was back in open session at 6:49PM.
OLD BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS Election of Commission President — Commissioner Boyer nominated
Commissioner Kuspa. Commissioner Hauboldt seconded. Motion passed all in favor.
Election of Commission Vide-President/Secretary — Commission Boyer nominated
Commissioner Jaske. Commissioner Hammitt seconded. Motion passed all in favor.

Commissioner Boyer made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Hauboldt seconded. Motion
passed all in favor.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:51 PM.
After adjournment the Commission responded to the police department for a tour with the Common
Council.
