NOTICE OF CLOSED SESSION The Library Board of the City of Muskego will meet at
approximately 6:OOPM, or as soon thereafter as time permits on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in the Library
Conference Room, Muskego Public Library, S73 W16663 Janesville Road, Muskego, Wisconsin,
following conclusion of consideration of the above portion of its regularly scheduled agenda, to vote on a
motion to convene in closed session at said time and place for:
Discussion/Action relative to Appointment of Interim Director . The Library Board will hold the closed
session in the Library Conference Room.
A closed session for the above purpose is authorized pursuant to the provisions of Wis. Stats. Section
§19.85(1)(c) , which authorizes a governmental body, upon motion duly made and carried, to meet in
closed session to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any
public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
Upon conclusion of the closed session, the Library Board will convene in open session to consider its
public agenda, including motions to recommend approval or rejection of the above -listed deliberations or
any of the public agenda items that have not been acted upon.

The Muskego Public Library (WI) is seeking an energetic leader to be their next Public Library Director.
Reporting to a nine -member library board, this hands-on, people -focused manager directs the operations
of a well -maintained 40,000 square foot library nestled amongst prairie plantings and wildlife marsh. This
position supervises a creative 14.3 FTE staff and supports a community that loves reading, learning and
connecting.
This position requires the ability to build personal community partnerships, support a successful Friends'
of the Library fundraising group, and work collaboratively with dedicated municipal leadership to deliver
popular and innovative library services to a community of over 25,000 people.
Minimum qualifications for the position include:
• Must possess a Master of Library Science from an American Library Association accredited
institution.
• Eligibility for a grade 1 Wisconsin library certificate.
• Five years of professional library experience, including two years supervisory experience or any
combination of education and experience that provides the equivalent knowledge, skills and
abilities.
• Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
The salary range for this position is $97,274 - $126,425 DOQ along with a great benefits package.

Purpose of Position
Under the general direction of the Library Board, the Library Director is responsible for the daily
operations, staff and building management of the Muskego Public Library, as well as oversees the
development and implementation of the collection and service programs. This position works closely
with stakeholders, to implement the strategic vision, mission and goals of the Library. The Library
Director develops policies, manages budgets and ensures the library effectively serves the community.
Occasional evening and weekend shifts required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-
inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Acts as the Library Board's Executive Director.
• Supervises library employees and evaluates their work performance.
• Develops, evaluates and implements library policies and procedures.
• Develops, presents and manages the library's annual operating and capital budgets.
• Develops and implements the library's strategic plan including short and long-term goals.
• Oversees management for all aspects of budgeted capital projects.
• Directs and supervises maintenance of the library building and grounds.
• Researches, negotiates and oversees the implementation of contracts in accordance with
procedures established by the Library Board.
• Recruits, selects, hires, supervises, evaluates and terminates library staff in conformity with
regulations.
• Oversees the staff training program.
• Recommends improvements in staffing, organization, salaries and benefits to the Library Board.
• Plans and conducts regular staff meetings.
• Serves as a liaison between the Library Board, City Council and Mayor.
• Prepares Library Board meeting agenda items and reports in conjunction with the Library Board
president and notifies the Library Board of scheduled meetings.
• Informs and advises the library board as to local, regional, state and national developments in
the library field and works to maintain communication with other area libraries.

• Serves as chief consultant to the Library Board in regards to technical matters. Conducts ongoing
evaluation of existing library programs, services, policies and procedures and submits
recommendations for improvement to the Library Board.
• Relates library objectives to community needs, and represents the library on community boards
and committees
• Oversees the library's ongoing collection development plan and supervises the selection,
purchase and withdrawal of library materials in accordance with that plan.
• Oversees the library's overall public relations plan; prepares press releases and makes
presentations to community groups.
• Represents the library at the system level and actively participates in professional library
associations.
• Provides professional assistance to the Friends of the Library regarding marketing and
fundraising activities.
• Other Duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations as it relates to public
libraries.
• Ability to communicate professionally, with tact, discretion and diplomacy verbally, in writing
and in presentations.
• Ability to multi -task, plan and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to exercise good judgment, decisiveness and creativity.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, be team oriented, and be able to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with colleagues, elected officials and the general public.
• Ability to think strategically, and to develop a vision that is consistent with the organizations
values.
• Ability to foster and maintain positive public relations for the library within the public.
• Ability to gain a working understanding of current and developing technologies as they relate to
public library operations and services.
• Ability to use office equipment including personal computer, phone, copy machine and fax
machine.
• Skill in using computerized financial software, basic graphic design software and the Microsoft
office suite including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software.
• Ability to hire, train, supervise and discipline employees, coordinate and delegate workloads and
work schedules, evaluate work performance and maintain high standards of library service.
• Ability to analyze statistical data, evaluate programs and prepare clear and concise reports and
recommendations.
• Ability to travel to meetings outside of the library.

• Hand eye coordination for data entry and document review on a computer.
