RESOLUTION #004-2024
APPROVAL OF APPOINTMENT OF
DISTRICT 4 ALDERPERSON
WHEREAS, District 4 Alderperson, Thomas Kapusta, notified the Mayor and Common Council
that he is resigning his position as Alderperson effective February 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 17.23(am), the Muskego Common Council
has elected to fill said office by appointment by majority vote of the Common Council, said
successor to serve for the remainder of Alderperson Kapusta's unexpired term ending in April
of 2025; and
WHEREAS, on January 4, 2024, Mayor Rick Petfalski issued an Immediate Release seeking
applications from interested persons wishing to serve in the capacity of District 4 Alderperson
for the City of Muskego completing Alderperson Kapusta's term ending in April of 2025; and
WHEREAS, the following individuals applied for the Alderperson position by close of business
on January 15, 2024 at 4:30 pm:
• Jake Schwer
• Lynn Cummings
• Ashley Nettesheim
WHEREAS, all applicants were interviewed by members of the Common Council present at a
meeting of the Committee of the Whole on January 23, 2024 at 5:00 pm; that said meeting was
properly noticed on Friday, January 19, 2024 in accordance with the open meetings laws of the
State of Wisconsin and was open to the public; and
WHEREAS, after conducting the interviews and upon deliberation, by paper ballot and majority
vote, the Common Council chose Jake Schwer to fill the position of District 4 Alderperson
finishing out the remainder of Alderperson Kapusta's term ending in April of 2025 and
recommends to the Common Council to approve said appointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Common Council of the City of Muskego,
upon the recommendation of the Committee of the Whole, does hereby appoint Jake Schwer
as District 4 Alderperson finishing out the remainder of Alderperson Kapusta's term ending in
April of 2025.
