CALL TO ORDER Len called to order at 4:00
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE All recited pledge
ROLL CALL Deputy Commissioners Len Pilak, Larry Schweitzer, Greg Burmeister, Karl Hoeppner
present. Tom Kies excused. Tom Zagar (City staff) present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
July 6, 2022 Larry moved to approve, Karl second, carried by all.
VOUCHER APPROVAL
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Current status of lake (water levels, ice, fish and wildlife). Discussion of dry weather, lake is down
4 to 5 inches. It was noted Eurasian watermilfoil is really extensive this year. Chemical treatment
was completed a week earlier and should show signs of collapsing soon. Only navigation lanes
and Bass Bay shoreline treated. It was noted that there are 3 active osprey nests this year,
previously the most was 2. USDA captured and removed 60 nuisance geese from Bass Bay.
2. Discuss DNR cattail burn plans. No discussion.
3. Future project ideas. Re -set poles or reconstruct osprey platforms — they are all leaning.
NEW BUSINESS
Discuss financially assisting DNR land acquisition project. The District has funds to purchase
conservancy land. The DNR is seeking local assistance to make an offer on a 30 acre parcel on the
east side of the lake. Larry moved to recommend utilizing the balance in "Land Purchase" budget
line to financially assist the DNR acquisition. Greg seconded. Carried by all.
