Meeting was called to order at 6:OOPM by Commissioner Jaske.

Commissioner Hammitt made a motion to approve the minutes from the 05/18/23, 06/20/23,
07/19/23, 07/20/23 and 7/31/23 meetings. Commissioner Hauboldt seconded. Motion passed all
in favor.
PUBLIC APPEARANCE Tony Tiedemann and his son Ashton, were in attendance as Ashton
is working on his Boy Scout citizenship badge.
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Westphal thanked all the commissioners for their flexibility and attention to getting
interviews done for the police officer hiring process.
He advised Danedlion Daze are approaching and the department is fine-tuning security for this
event as well as the other large events held in the city. He advised the parade route will be the
same as last year, going down Pioneer Drive, in order to keep Racine Avenue open in the
event of a critical incident.
The SCIT drone car has been set up and will be stationed at our department.
National Night Out was a success and the department is thankful for the money raised.
The Police Union and City have a tentative agreement and we are waiting on some final
working before it goes to the union for a vote.
Our boat patrol has lacked this summer due to a catastrophic issue with the engine. A new
engine has been placed and is getting broken in.
The department received a donation of a jet ski and trailer, which will be put into place next
summer.
Our mock accreditation was done and we are ready for the WILEAG on -site, which will take
place September 12-14. All postings and notices will be sent out next week.
Lt. Kraus' last day will be December 22. He will officially retire the first week of January 2024,
but his last day in office will be 12/22/23.
Promotions to fill Lt. Kraus' spot have been put on hold in order to get the results of the salary
study that the city is working on.
