MINUTES OF MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, MAY 24, 1995
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. by Chairman Sanders.
Also present were Committee Members D'Acquisto and Rasmussen, and
Ald. Salentine.
The Committee noted that the meeting was posted on May 19, 1995 in
accordance with the Open Meeting Law.
The Committee further reviewed proposed Taxi Service ordinance
along with correspondence from Chief Johnson dated May 12, 1995
and Attorney Molter dated March 29, 1995. Discussion continued on
the need for taxi licensing/regulations and it was noted that the
original requestor has not come forward to pursue the license at
this time. Ald. D'Acquisto moved to table item until such time a
request for taxi service occurs, due to expense in amending the
City's Municipal Code. Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried
3-0.
The Committee reviewed Committee Appointments and discrepancies in
Parks & Recreation Board terms. Ald. Rasmussen moved that the
City Attorney be requested to review the following options and
present recommendations:
a. Dissolve the current Board and reappoint the same Board
Members to new terms, based upon current ordinance (Chapter 1,
Section 1.05(6)(a).
• b. Amend the Municipal Code to allow periodic adjustment to
Committees because of errors or omissions.
Seconded by Ald. D'Acquisto, motion carried 3-0.
Ald. D'Acquisto moved to request the City Attorney to also review
the following:
a. The voting rights of the President of the Parks & Recreation
Board.
b. The voting rights of the President of the Library Board.
c. The ability of either presidents to initiate motions.
Seconded by Ald. Rasmussen, motion carried 3-0.
Ald. D'Acquisto moved to adjourn at 8:30 P.M. Seconded by Ald.
Sanders, motion carried 3-0.
