MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 8, 1990
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Patterson at 7:35
P.M. Also present were Committee Member Taube. Committee Member
Simmons was absent.
The Committee deferred the following items pending review by the
City Attorney: Hazardous Material Ordinance, Abatement of Public
Nuisances Ordinance, and Bookstore Ordinance.
The Committee discussed proposed amendments to Forfeiture
Schedule. Ald. Taube moved to defer to April meeting. Seconded
by Ald. Patterson, motion carried.
The Committee deferred review of Sprinkler Ordinance at request
of G. P. Lee and referred to Public Safety Committee for their
April meeting.
The Committee reviewed correspondence dated February 23, 1990,
regarding Term of Office - City Assessor. Ordinance #669,
adopted January 9, 1990, changed the commencement date of the
term of office of the City Assessor to June 1st to conform to
• what was thought to be a requirement of State Statutes. However,
State Statutes state a May 1st commencement of office, unless
amended by Ordinance. To maintain consistency, it was suggested
that the Assessor's term commence May 1st as originally
established. Ald. Patterson moved to recommended the following
amendment to Chapterl, Section 1.03:
1.03 ELECTED OFFICIALS. The Clerk -Comptroller, Treasurer
and Assessor shall be elected for 2 year terms in even -
numbered years, with the terms commencing on May 1st.
Seconded by Ald. Taube, motion carried.
