MINUTES OF MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 2, 1987
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Dan Hilt.
Also present were Committee Member Patterson and Police Chief
Johnson. Chairman DeAngelis was absent.
The Committee reviewed sample Smoking Ordinances from various
communities. The Committee requested that the ordinance received
from the City of Mukwonago be sent to the City Attorney and
request that the City Attorney draft an ordinance, incorporating
the Clean Indoor Air reflected in Section 101.123 of the
Wisconsin Statutes, with a suggested maximum fine of $25.00.
Further discussion on Ordinance 9.27, Section C, Drinking on
Public Streets Prohibited was deferred until receipt of requested
information from the City Attorney.
The Committee reviewed the following recommended changes to
Ordinance 12.03 as supplied by Chief Johnson and Attorney John
Macy:
Hours Restricted Be deleted and replace with the following:
• Prohibited Practices
(1) A direct seller shall be prohibited from: calling at
any dwelling or other places between the hours of 8:00
P.M. and 9:00 A.M. except by appointment; calling at
any dwelling or other place where a sign is displayed
bearing the words "No Peddlers", "No Solicitors" or
words of similar meaning; calling at the rear door of
any dwelling place; or remaining on any premises after
being asked to leave by the owner, occupant or other
person having authority over such premises.
Section 7: Delete "d" and replace with the following:
(d) An investigative fee of $5.00 for each employee of any
applicant who will be peddling, soliciting, canvassing
or working for a transient merchant.
Ald. Hilt moved to recommend adoption of the above amendments to
Section 12.03 of the Municipal Code. Seconded by Ald. Patterson,
motion carried.
Discussion on procedure for introduction/interview of future
appointments to Committees, Boards and Commissions was deferred.

The Committee reviewed correspondence from Treasurer Sanders and
Attorney John Macy regarding drafting an ordinance to increase
the interest for Delinquent Personal Property Taxes from 1% to 1
1/2% interest charge. Ald. Hilt moved to deny request. Seconded
by Ald. Patterson, motion carried.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
