MINUTES OF MEETING HELD DECEMBER 15, 1982
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 P.M. by Chairman Dumke. Also
present were Committee Members Treba and Klenz, Mayor Salentine,
Aldermen Nilsson and Tomczyk, Frank DeAngelis, Mr. Duane Elertson
WON and Mr. Richard Knudsen. Willard Bertram arrived at 8:45 P.M.
The committee discussed a proposed "No Smoking" ordinance. Ald.
Nilsson presented his proposed ordinance. Several suggestions were
presented by those persons present as follows:
1. Establish smoking/non-smoking areas
2. Take breaks during meetings
3. Have proposed ordinance take effect in April of 1984 which
is election time
4. Purchase and install smoke inhalers
5. Eliminate smoking in alderman's conference roon only.
6. Place "No Smoking" signs in meeting rooms
7. Have chairman request that people refrain from smoking
• After considerable discussion, the committee decided to confer with
the city attorney and with other communities as to how they have handled
this situation. �
The committee discussed the problem of night parking during the
winter months due to lack of driveways and parking space on several
city streets. The committee felt an,ordinance would not be appropriate
at this time.
The plowing of snow onto city streets from private drives was dis-
cussed. Ald. Klenz moved to propose an ordinance similar to the
City of Franklin, submit same to the city attorney for review and
to forward to Common Council. Seconded by Ald. Treba. Motion
carried.
License and permit fees as proposed in Ordinance #449 and Ordinance
#450 were recommended for approval by the committee.
The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and placed on file.
The meeting adjourned at 10:20 P.M.
