Ald Weed, Ald. Tomczyk, Mayor Gottfried, Mr Michael Brandt, Mr. Leon Oszahiewski, Walter Wiedemeier, Mr. Render Spencer, Mr Casey. M. by Chairman Van Lanen. Pienkos (committee members) Building Inspector Lee, Mr. James Ramsey, Mr. Orlo Zlensky and Mr. Dennis Building Inspector Lee explained the State Codes and authority that is available regarding the underground storage of gasoline. Building Inspector Lee stated that other than agricultural lands all tanks must have permits and be inspected. Mr Lee will check into the concern over the one known underground gasoline storage tank near Little Muskego Lake. The filling of lowland areas was discussed. Building Inspector Lee explained the difficulty of determining and defining wetlands. Building Inspector Lee stated that any requests for filling lowlands must be made in writing The city is awaiting the completion of a drainage plan that will aid the Inspection Department in determining the wetland areas. • Snowplowing ordinances from New Berlin, Sussex and Franklin were placed on file. Ald. Van Lanen had talked to Supt. Bertram of the Public Works Department and he felt that at this time an ordinance was not warranted. Mr. Michael Brandt appeared before the committee to ask for a change in the Building Code regarding setbacks and permits required for tool sheds. Mr. Brandt would like to see sheds over 100 sq. ft. being placed close to lot lines. Building Inspector Lee was requested to survey the types of buildings available currently and to re- check the building codes to see if they need to be amended. Mr. Lee will submit a report to the committee at their next meeting. Mr. Render Spencer appeared at the meeting to question on what basis the Class "B" tavern license was approve for Mrs. Audrey Oschmann. It was explained that certain restrictions were placed upon the license which must be met. City Attorney Hippenmeyer is requested to check the legalities involved in taking liquor and fermented malt beverage outside of a drinking establishment and consuming it in the parking lot. The Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee requests Mayor Gottfried to contact neighboring communities, including Milwaukee, to see how they handle complaints regarding tavern owners and how the law enforcement agencies in these areas monitor taverns. Ald. Pienkos will contact Police Chief Scholz regarding the policies and authority the police department has in regard to taverns. The • committee will review the city's municipal code regarding taverns. The committee also requests City Attorney Hippenmeyer to render an opinion as to whether or not the city has the authority to stipulate that a relative be barred from participating in the operation of an establishment if he has prior convictions related to the operation of a tavern. Correspondence from City Attorney Buckley, dated 5/21/79 and 6/6/79 was read and placed on file Ald. Pienkos moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Salentine. Motion carried.
