PROPOSAL:
That the Rules, Laws and Ordinance Committee amend the
Municipal Code 7.18 (Registration of Bicycles) to add
subsection (7) Responsibility of parent or guardian for
violation of bicycle registration ordinance. No parent
or guardian of any child shall authorize or knowingly
permit such child to violate any of the provision of
Municipal Code 7.18.
• DISCUSSION:
The provisiotaof Municipal Code 7.18 do not come under
the incorporation of the State Statutes section 346.77
which pertains to parent responsibility. Therefore, the
police department has no authority to enforce the pro-
visions of Municipal Code 7.18 when the violation is
committed by a child.
