RLO19780111RULES, LAWS & ORDINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEG0 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JANUARY 11, 1978 The meeting was called to order at 8.00 P.M. by Acting Chairman Wallner. Also present were Committee Member Van Lanen, Ald. Dumke, Mayor Gottfried and several citizens as shown on the attached attendance list. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed. Ald. Van Lanen moved to accept the minutes and place them on file. Seconded by Ald. Wallner, motion carried. It was the decision of the police department to determine how many have been in regard to the snowmobile • The committee discussed once again the question of whether or not the office of Mayor should become fulltime with several citizens entering into the discussion. It was the concensus of those alder- men present that the decision of whether or not the Mayor's position should become fulltime must be made by the electorate through a referendum. The committee reviewed the different ways the question could be put to a referendum, that is, by Council action or by petition of the citizens. It was generally agreed that because of the many problems to be considered a thorough evaluation should take place. It was the decision of the committee to defer action on the matter until feelings of all the aldermen can be determined. Ald. Van Lanen moved to defer action on the need to regulate the installation of concrete driveways and the need to prohibit the plowing of snow onto public streets until the next meeting.
