• The committee discussed once again the question of whether or not
the office of Mayor should become fulltime with several citizens
entering into the discussion. It was the concensus of those alder-
men present that the decision of whether or not the Mayor's position
should become fulltime must be made by the electorate through a
referendum. The committee reviewed the different ways the question
could be put to a referendum, that is, by Council action or by
petition of the citizens. It was generally agreed that because of
the many problems to be considered a thorough evaluation should take
place. It was the decision of the committee to defer action on the
matter until feelings of all the aldermen can be determined.
Ald. Van Lanen moved to defer action on the need to regulate the
installation of concrete driveways and the need to prohibit the
plowing of snow onto public streets until the next meeting. Seconded
by Ald. Wallner, motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerome.J. Gottfried, Acting Sec'y.
