• MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 29, 1973
Chairman Foldy called the meeting to order at 8:25 P.M. Also present
were Aldermen Knudsen and Ford and Mayor Gottfried.
Attorney Herbert Eggie appeared to present arguments against an
additional liquor store license. Mr. Eggie was representing the
•existing liquor store operators. After a lengthy discussion, Ald.
Knudsen moved to recommend that the Common Council amend our existing
ordinance governing liquor store licenses to allow six licenses.
Seconded by Ald. Foldy. The motion lost by a unanimous vote.

Further discussion of the Open Burning Ordinance was held. Ald. Ford
moved to include a provision that would prohibit the burning of leaves
or wood in city drainage ditches,along lake shores and stream banks or
in other watercourses of the city. Ald. Ford explained that leaves,
either whole or burned, are a significant source of phosphorus pollution
and should be kept from lakes and streams insofar as possible. The
motion was seconded by Ald. Knudsen and carried.
The committee reviewed the proposed Land Division Ordinance and will
continue to do so at its next meeting.
Ald. Knudsen moved to adjourn
